An air purifier is a room appliance with an ongoing filter bill, not a substitute for solving the source of a problem. The Xiaomi 2S combines a restrained tower shape with accessible filtration. Its age makes replacement parts and software support essential questions before a purchase.
At a glance
Our take
Worth evaluating for an existing owner or a carefully checked used purchase; filter compatibility and room suitability should come before smart features.
What we like
- Compact tower format fits many living spaces
- Filter compartment is accessible for maintenance
- Simple appearance is easy to live with
What to consider
- Older hardware makes support checks important
- Replacement filter cost is part of the purchase
- A particle display cannot describe every air-quality concern
Who is it for?
Existing 2S owners planning maintenance, or buyers who have verified compatible filters, local support and a suitable room size.
Choose for the room you use
Begin with the room’s floor area, ceiling height and the conditions you want to address. Compare the exact model’s documented clean-air delivery and noise information rather than relying on a broad coverage claim. Open-plan areas and closed bedrooms behave differently; a device that fits beside a chair does not necessarily have enough output for the whole home.
Position the purifier where air can circulate freely, following the clearance requirements in its manual. Tucking the intake behind a curtain or pressing the unit into a crowded corner can undermine the very airflow you are paying for. Keep the area around it easy to vacuum and inspect.

The filter is part of the product
The photographs show the cylindrical filter and the compartment it occupies. That is the component to investigate first. Confirm the correct replacement code, seller and ongoing supply, then include the replacement cost in your budget. Similar-looking filters are not proof of identical performance or fit.
Keep a simple record of installation and inspection. Follow the manufacturer’s replacement guidance and respond to the actual condition of the unit. A filter that looks clean on the outside is not evidence that it retains its original capacity, and a maintenance reminder is not a laboratory measurement.

A display is useful, within limits
A built-in display can make an appliance easier to check at a glance. It should not be treated as a comprehensive assessment of indoor air. Different pollutants require different methods of measurement, and a reading taken at one appliance cannot describe every corner of a room.
Likewise, an app is a convenience rather than a reason to ignore the basics. For an older imported unit, verify the appropriate region, supported app and local electrical requirements. Confirm that you can operate the everyday controls without depending on features you have not tested.

Our conclusion
The 2S makes the most sense when ownership is straightforward: the correct filter is available, the room is suitable and the controls meet your needs. For an existing owner, sensible maintenance may be a better use of money than replacing a functioning unit for a newer display.
For a fresh purchase, compare a locally supported current purifier with published performance data and clear filter costs. We have not independently measured the 2S’s cleaning performance or health outcomes, so our recommendation is about purchase checks and practical fit, not medical benefit.
